This pic is priceless. "Dude, you're cramping my seating style..."

"When do I get to start eating real mushrooms?"

Praise the Fall

Yes indeedy. More than ever I am reminded that it is no longer summer - boo - from the onslaught of TV premieres to the friggin' weather to my sudden urge to go shopping for new clothes.... ah, I think autumn is my favourite season... all the possibilities! Ok aside from rain being a serious mood killer. Hmm. Perhaps I will invest in some wellies or (God help me) an umbrella. Or a rain hat. And then 3M my trench coat, or re-introduce my Taiga jacket to the public? Ooh, and make use of all the scarves I in the last year from Fri. Maybe it's time to purchase some tights. I'm thinking greys and creams and a splash of colour: pink and red and eggplant and blue (not all together!). Perhaps invest in a cable-knit sweater.

Ok. The irony is not lost on me. I gave away my cream cable-knit sweater not long ago to Big Brothers, or DDA... unbeknownst to me I held on to a sweater for 8 years (and hardly wore after the first year) thinking it would come in handy one of these days. Yeah so I finally get rid of it and cable-knit sweaters are suddenly coming back into fashion. Bastards. Oh well. I wouldn't have worn it again anyway. It was waay to big for me then, and probably waaaaaay too big for me now. It was one of those Club Monaco sweaters - you know you had one at one point or another. That was when CM sold clothing for normal bodies. But now that I think of it - everyone sold baggy shit back then. (Mental image of Luscious' baggy jeans.) Hahahah.

Anyway, here's a splash of colour I had to indulge in:

Yes folks, those are elliptical trainer legs.

Too... much... TV!

I watched bits and pieces of Studio 60 on Sunday Night... also in between watching bits and pieces of House. I hope they don't go head to head, I quite enjoy House and from what I've seen of Studio 60, looks like I could get into that as well. The good thing about House is that it has, for the most part, standalone episodes. I mean aside from House's leg thing and the pseudo-romance going on between... the younger female doctor...

Studio 60 looks like an Entertainment Industry version of The West Wing. Which goes to show, it's produced/written/directed by the same people who did The West Wing anyway. Looks like sure-fire Emmy material? The credentials anyway. I like the fact that Matthew Perry is playing a 'grown-up' role and talking in normal tones, not inflecting words IN odd orDER. Whazzup with Amanda Peet though - she's really cute but seriously the only woman on TV that can claim to have a shit-eating grin.

Also watched a new comedy yesterday, The Class. Passable. Dorfmeister has decided to give up CSI Miami on account of the bad acting and lack of well... CSI-ing. That's one down... 2 to go! The only thing that worries me about my new roomie is that he lurrrrves CSI Las Vegas and guess when it's on... right up against my favourite show, Grey's Anatomy. What to do, what to do! We don't have Bell Express-Vu or Tivo. I suppose we'll have to re-program the VCR. Gaah!

In other bad news that is TV-related. Over the weekend we bought a new remote control for my mom's TV... the first one didn't work so we had to return it, and then the second one didn't work either and now I have to return it. Was going to do that today but it looks like I left the receipt at home. Or it was thrown out. And if it was thrown out, I'm seriously going to be annoyed. (A small light of hope, though, my mom wants to chuck the TV she has for a flat screen mounted on her wall. NICE.)

Painting in the new room turned out very nicely. Need to do some touch-ups but whatever... We've got Lightning Star on 2 opposing walls and Chameleon Green on the other two walls. Basically blue and yellow. Looks good so far, just now need to furnish properly. Next up, my 'old' room. Sleeping arrangements have not yet bothered my mom yet, who got home from Hawaii on Saturday. She brought home a big ass box of boxes of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts and Hana Valley Rum for Dorfmeister.

Hey all you's people who go on vacation and want to bring me stuff (other than a postcard)... I'm starting to get a good collection of towels together - namely beach towels with maps of the places I've been to on them! I've got one for the Algarve, and St. Maarten, and now my mom has brought me back one of the islands of Hawaii. I wonder if Belize produces Belize map beach towels? At any rate, much more useful than cheesy souvenir t-shirts. Good call. That is, until our collective collection of beach towels reaches ridiculous proportions, much like my t-shirt collection did until last year.

I am itching to have a brunch party.

Reality TV fun

I think this new season of Survivor is great. The way they've separated the races is an interesting twist but a good one! I've only watched one epi so far, they've spent more time focussing on the African-Americans than the other three tribes, probably because the most drama stems from them and the fact that they LOST the immunity challenge. Not that that means anything, you know, stereotypically...

At any rate, I want the Asians to win! Go Jenny! Or Yul! or Rebekah! Or Cao Boi! or Brad!

In other reality TV news... well truthfully, most reality TVs I can't ever watch a full episode of, just bits and pieces... but I watched bits and pieces of Dancing with the Stars and caught the tail end, just to see that Mario Lopez is still alive and watch Tucker Carson (sans the ubiquitous bowtie and snarky remarks) get voted off... in the first epi. Heh, wonder what Jon Stewart has to say about that!

The other thing that pissed me off about reality TV was Celebrity Duets. I watched the first episode a few weeks ago, the one where Jai Rodriguez kicked azz with Aretha Franklin and some other dude... I don't know about the singing chops of the other Celebrities, but I saw Jai hit the high notes in 1998, in TO, when he played Angel in RENT. So I know he can sing. And that he ought to run away with the winning prize - whatever it is. In subsequent bits and pieces I saw that someone had held up a sign that said "Jai has the voice of an Angel!" Hmm... someone else knows the same thing I do! I never checked his bio on the CD website so who knows. All I know was that my first reaction was, "Celebrity Duets is a sham!"

(and a couple people can attest to that exclamation...)
